 he poet Sapphire, left, and Brenda Jones, a self defense expert, were featured guests at an Apr. 16 event sponsored by the Barnard-Columbia Rape Crisis/Anti-Violence Center. The event was in response to recent publicized acts of violence against women in the Columbia community and nationwide. In Wien Lounge, Sapphire read from her works, and Jones, from the Center for Anti-Violence Education, gave a self defense demonstration.
