he Film Division at the School of the Arts has announced the recipients of the Arthur Krim Memorial Scholarship, created in 1995 in honor of the film producer and Columbia College alumnus by Annette Insdorf, former chair of the division, and television producer Norman Lear.

  “Our idea was to honor Arthur Krim’s memory, while providing much-needed assistance to graduate students who have chosen to concentrate in film producing,” said Insdorf.

  This year’s recipients are Meredith Garlick and Karen Severns, both second-year MFA students. Severns has worked in both Tokyo and New York as a film critic and author, and has produced almost two dozen short video projects and a 16 mm film during the past 2 years. Garlick has also produced a number of video projects, worked in advertising, publicity, and marketing, and coordinated this year’s Polo Ralph Lauren New Works Festival.
