rom the golf course to the tennis courts to the outdoor track, the spring sports season yielded All-Ivy performances and NCAA competitions.
The mens tennis team delivered one of its most successful seasons ever, with an appearance at the NCAA Regionals.
The Lions wrapped up their regular season in style, beating Yale, Brown and Pennsylvania to finish second in the Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis Association (EITA) with only one loss, against Harvard.
Salil Seshadri, of Bombay, India, was voted EITA player of the year, the first Columbian in more than 10 years to win the honor.
The Lions 81 season, led by head coach Bid Goswami, was also a result of the EITA standout performances of first-year Steve Millerman of Brooklyn, and senior Ogidi Obi, of Princeton, N.J.

Sara Brubaker, top, was named All-Ivy for her lacrosse prowess. Stacy Martindale, left, made it to the ECAC track championships for her skill in the high jump. This season she broke the school record by clearing 5'6.5". |

The womens crew rowed to a bronze medal in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association regatta on May 29, finishing third behind Wisconsin and Rutgers, and beating Colgate and Cornell.
In golf, junior Steve Oh, of Scarsdale, N.Y., was selected to the All-Ivy team after Columbia finished third in the Ivy League.
The wrestling team was one of only six Division I wrestling teams in the nation to compile a grade-point average better than 3.0, and has been designated an Academic All-American Team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The teams 3.129 average put them fourth in the nation, along with Princeton, Brigham Young, James Madison, Nebraska and Stanford.
In only their second spring as a varsity team, womens lacrosse topped the season with a 1211 victory over Notre Dame. The Irish themselves beat Ohio State and Stanford, which says a lot for the Lions.
They also looked good two days later in a match against Harvard, which they eventually lost 169.
We really peaked the weekend against Harvard and Notre Dame, said Head Coach Celine Cunningham. As always, we hustled and played hard.
