Colleen M. Crooker, who had been director of personnel services at Purdue University, began her duties as vice president for human resources at Columbia on May 8.

In an interview this week, she said that she "is delighted to be at Columbia."

She succeeded Robert S. Early, who retired last June after 16 years at Columbia. Mark Burstein, director of administrative planning, has served as acting vice president.

Crooker was at Purdue eight years, where she was credited with bringing a more service-oriented approach to personnel operations.
