Columbia men's basketball guard Gary Raimondo was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week last week.

The honor marked the second time this season Raimondo has been recognized as the league's top newcomer of the week.

Raimondo, of Buffalo, N.Y., scored 20 points, dealt eight assists and grabbed three steals in the Lions' two weekend contests against Brown and Yale. He was instrumental in Columbia's 74-58 victory over Yale on Feb. 10, with 10 points, five assists and a steal. The Columbia men lost Feb. 9 to Brown, 74-62.

Raimondo is fourth in the league in steals per game at 1.90 and third on the team in scoring, with 8.2 points per contest. He ranks behind Columbia's top scorers C.J. Thompkins (13.5 points per game) and Justin Namolik (9.6 points per game.)

In the Ivy League, Raimondo is only one of three players to receive the Rookie of the Week award more than once this season.

The Lions, with an overall 5-17 standing, have only four more games this season. The final home games will be March 1 and 2, against Pennsylvania and Princeton, respectively.
