Margo Amgott has been named executive director of administrative planning. The appointment was announced recently by Emily Lloyd, executive vice president for administration.
Amgott succeeds Mark Burstein, who left administrative planning last fall to become vice president for student services.
Amgott came to Columbia in 1991. Most recently she was associate dean at the Graduate School of Journalism. Prior to that she was associate director of the National Center for Children in Poverty, based at the School of Public Health.
Before joining Columbia she spent seven years in senior administrative positions in New York City and New York State government, serving as budget and support services director for New York City's Department of Juvenile Justice and director of special projects at the City's Health Department. Prior to that she managed public health services for women in North Brooklyn and served on the staff of the provost of the SUNY-Health Science Center in Brooklyn.
She has a B.A. from Barnard and a M.S. in health policy and management from New York University. She is located at 410 Low and may be reached by calling 854-7268.
