Family, friends and political dignitaries gathered in St. Paul's Chapel at the Apr. 26 memorial service for Carol Hamilton, press secretary to the late Commerce Department Secretary Ronald Brown and daughter of Charles V. Hamilton, the Wallace S. Sayre Professor of Political Science at Columbia. At the service, mourners included Jesse Jackson, pictured above at the podium; Columbia Professor David N. Dinkins, former mayor of New York; George Stephanopoulos, senior advisor to President Bill Clinton, and U.S. Representative Charles Rangel. Hamilton, 36, died Apr. 3 in the plane crash that killed Brown and 28 others in Croatia.
