High school-aged participants in Columbia's rigorous academic program, Double Discovery, recently showcased the debating skills they mastered over the summer.
In Altschul Auditorium last month, teams of students debated questions ranging from "Should New York City Police Officers Patrol Public Schools?" to "Does Rap Music Promote Violence and Disrespect Toward Women?" President Rupp moderated the competitions.
Columbia's Double Discovery Center was founded 30 years ago by students at the College. It offers year round academic programs for low-income high school and junior high school students who attend New York City public schools.
