Annual University Convocation Service to Be Held Tuesday
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 1996-97 University Convocation service inaugurating this academic year. With the entering Undergraduate Class of 2000 joining us this term, there are many issues that face this University and our society as a whole. It is in these opening activities that we invite your participation as the faculty, staff and administrators with a sense of celebration for all that awaits this community.
President George Rupp will deliver this year's main address along with President Judith Shapiro of Barnard College offering opening remarks and Columbia College Student President Syreeta McFadden delivering thoughts from a student's perspective.
We ask you to encourage your colleagues and students to gather at:
St. Paul's Chapel
Tuesday, September 3, 1996
5:00 p.m.
The tradition of the University Convocation invites all at Columbia and Barnard to begin the year in this reflective moment as we inaugurate our individual and collective work. The event is informal and we will not robe. Please join us following the service for a reception outside the chapel. We look forward to your presence at this gathering.
Thank you, and we wish you well in this new year.
| Sincerely yours,
