3. three letters of recommendation for each individual involved on the project. Applicants should seek letters of recommendations from individuals who are not their colleagues at their home institutions.

Neither the vitae nor the statement of purpose should exceed 5 pages in length.

All supporting materials (with the cover sheet) should be mailed or faxed to the Office of the Provost.

Fellows may apply for a semester or a year of residence. Complete applications must be submitted by March 2, 2009, and will be accepted up to two years in advance of, but no later than five months prior to, the proposed starting date of residence.

For example, candidates submitting their applications by the March 2, 2009 deadline may apply for one of the following terms: Fall 2009, Academic Year 2009-10, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, or Academic Year 2010-11.

Dossiers will be reviewed once yearly, and decisions will be announced shortly thereafter by the Provost of Columbia University.
