Upcoming guest speaker Diana Cabral, Past President of Rotaract at UN. She will be coming to speak with us on the culture and current events on the Dominican Republic, in lieu of our club's trip to the Dominican Republic. Please join us for this informative talk!

Valentine's Day Grams

February 9-14, 2007
Valentines Day Grams are a club-wide effort to raise money for the Dominican Republic. One dollar sends a Valentine's day card and candy to the student of your choice. Those who receive and keep their Valentine's Day Grams will get reduced admission to other Rotaract fundraisers, specifically entrance fee at Mona's. All proceeds go directly to sponser activities for children and adults in the Dominican Republic.

RYLA '07 Preparations

RYLA, which stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, is an all-expense paid seminar, camp, and workshop where high school students, chosen for their leadership potential, discuss leadership skills and learn those skills through practice. Rotaract of Columbia University will be collaborating up with David Delmonte, the RYLA 2007 chair to send a few Rotaract members to be RYLA counselors at this year's camp, which will take place the last weekend of April. Additionally, we are in search for a photographer who will be available that weekend to acts as the camp's official photographer.

International Service Project Preparations

Currently the Community Service Committee is assisting in the fundraising and donation-collecting aspect of the International Service Trip to the Dominican Republic during Spring Break of this year: March 9-17, 2007. Soon, the committee will be setting up boxes throughout the residential halls on campus in order to collect clothes, shoes, books, and basic medicines. Additionally, the Community Service Committee is helping coordinate not only the Valentine's Grams Sale from February 1-14, 2007, but also Mona's "Feel the Heat" party, which will take place on February 16, 2007.

Glass House Rocks

Lerner Hall - February 1, 2007
Lerner Hall was bumping at Columbia's annual Glass House Rocks, with virtually every student group in attendance. Rotaract was there on the main ramp giving out milk and cookies as well as getting people interested in our International Service Project and our exciting community events.
