Columbia University Rugby Football Club is a competitive, intercollegiate rugby club open to all students of the university. During the fall we play in the recently formed Ivy League Championship Series, the first such conference in Ivy League rugby history. During the spring we play a number of exhibition games as well as tournaments, such as the Four-Leaf Tournament on Randall’s Island, NYC and the annual Ivy League Tournament. The team also goes on national and international tours every spring break – our last being in 2009 to Trinidad (pictures from past trips are available in the Featured Pictures section). Columbia Rugby strives to be a presence both on and off campus, and has been featured on ABC’s 20/20 and in Seventeen Magazine.
Practices are MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY from 8:30-10:30pm at Baker Field [For a map and directions to Baker, look under 'Home' menu.]. We leave campus as a team at 7:45pm on Thursday from the sundial in the middle of campus, but try to be there 15-30 minutes early. Additional practices are also scheduled when necessary, such as weekend practices at the beginning of the season.
"No experience is necessary, and men of all sizes are welcome–there’s a position for all body types on the pitch. If you’d like to join us or to find out when practices or games are scheduled, email a member of our Recruitment and PR committee: Alex Plana (alejandrogplana@gmail.com), Ian Hillman (imh2114@columbia.edu), Andrew West (adw2147@columbia.edu), and Peyton Bell (pwb2107@columbia.edu). Also, you can check out the New Player Info section, in the 'team' menu tab, for more information about the sport."
