THE COLUMBIA ACADEMIC QUIZ BOWL TEAM
Constitution

Article 1

The club shall be known as the Columbia Academic Quiz Team.

Article 2

The purpose of the club shall be to foster academic quiz activities on the Columbia campus. Such activities will include an intramural quiz bowl tournament, to be held twice each year and run by the club, and the club's representing Columbia at College Bowl, Inc., competitions throughout the school year.

Article 3

The club shall be open to any member of the Columbia community. Members will be expected to participate fully in club activities, such as playing in tournaments and staffing Columbia's own invitational tournament, to be held once every three years. Further requirements for members to be in good standing are to write practice questions, to practice in a team and to have a good record of attendance. Members must also help plan and staff the intramural and invitational tournaments that the club will host. Three meetings will be held each month, and for a member to be in good standing he cannot miss more than 5 meetings in a semester. Members in bad standing may be reinstated by a unanimous vote of the Officers.

Article 4

The club shall have four Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The officers will be elected at the end of each spring semester for the following year by a majority of the present membership. 2/3 of the membership in good standing must be present for quorum to be established and for the vote to be valid. The term for all Officers shall be one year from the date elected.

Article 5

The President shall preside over all meetings (unless he or she cannot attend) and shall organize the intramural tournaments to be held for the Columbia community each year.

Article 6

The Vice President shall act as assistant and special counsel to the President. The Vice President shall fulfill all duties of the President that the President cannot. He or she shall also be responsible for handling all question packets that the team acquires to practice with and shall organize them in such a way that they will be easily accessible to other members.

Article 7

The Secretary shall be responsible for recording the minutes of all meetings and handling all correspondence between the Of and other members and between Columbia's team and other schools' teams. The Secretary shall act as a historian and carefully record all activities of the club.

Article 8

The Treasurer shall be responsible for all financial activities of the club. He or she shall comply with all regulations of the Ferris Booth Hall Accounting Of ficers and the Columbia Office of Student Activities.

Article 9

Any officer can be impeached for failure to carry out his or her duties properly by a vote of 3/4 of all of the club's members in good standing. Any member can initiate the Impeachment process.

Article 10

The recognized parliamentary authority for this club shall be Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.

Article 11

This Constitution may be amended by 2/3 vote of all member in good standing, but the process for amending must be initiated by an Officer of the club.
