Constitution

PREAMBLE:

This is the constitution of Two Left Feet, Columbia University's Newest Improvisational and Sketch Comedy Group. This constitution shall clarify the intent, Purpose and organization of Two Left Feet.

ARTICLE I: Name

Section 1

The name of this organization shall hereafter referred to as Two Left Feet.

Section 2

The officers of Two Left Feet shall comprise the Executive Board of Two Left Feet, hereafter referred to as the 'Board.'

ARTICLE II: Purpose

Section 1

The purpose of this organization shall be to provide the CU campus with another ImProv Comedy option and to add the vehicles of Sketch and Musical Comedy to do so. We, the members of Two Left Feet, hope to bring joy and laughter to the CU community.

Section 2

The 'Board' shall 1.) arrange rehearsal and Performance time, 2.) arrange rehearsal and Performance space, 3.) publicize with the help of the membership, all Two Left Feet events, 4.) manage all of the finances of the group, 5.) ensure a positive group dynamic and 6.) uphold a standard of performance.

ARTICLE III: Membership

Section 1

Because of the performance nature of the grout, the membership shall be determined by an annual or semi-annual, depending on necessity, audition Process at which the improvisational skill, creativity of imagination, and ability to work in a group will be tested. The auditions' shall be run and attended by all current members, and led by the current Board. The number of new members to be accepted will be determined Prior to the annual audition. The final decision shall be reached unanimously by a discussion involving all current and present members. A "hung jury' shall result in further discussion. The executive board reserves the right to arbitrate.

Section 2

Only members who are undergraduate students in Barnard College, Columbia College, or the School of Engineering and Applied Science may vote or hold office.

Section 3

All members have the Privilege and responsibility of being funny, the responsibility of attending every rehearsal. All members of Two Left Feet have the right and Privilege to be in every performance. All members have the right to attend meetings of the board. All members (including outgoing members in the spring) and excluding those outlined in section 2, have the right to vote.

Section 4

Membership may be revoked by 1.) the unanimous consent of the board, and 2.) a 4/5 majority in favor of revocation by the membership.

ARTICLE IV: Meetings and Procedures

Section 1

Rehearsals will be held every Sunday and Tuesday of the academic year excluding reading week. The President and/or Artistic Director have the authority to call additional meetings.

Section 2

Policy can be reviewed in one of two ways. 1.) Policy proposals can be submitted to the board for formal review before being brought to the general membership. Or 2.) at a meeting of the general membership, a majority vote can first be used to decide to consider a Proposal and then a majority vote shall be used to accept or reject the Proposal.

ARTICLE V: Officers

Section 1

The organization Two Left Feet shall have the following officers: 1.) President. 2.) Treasurer. 3.) Artistic Director. 4.) Member-At-Large.

Only juniors or seniors are eligible to hold the Position of President or Artistic Director, unless there are no qualified juniors or seniors in which case the positions can be held by a sophomore. The Positions of Treasurer and Member-At-Large can be held by, but are not restricted to being held by, a freshman or sophomore. Any member is permitted to nominate any other member including themselves. The President, Treasurer, Artistic Director and Member-at-Large will be elected by simple majority.

Section 2

The duties of these officers shall be as follows. 1.) The President of Two Left Feet shall make all necessary arrangements for performance and rehearsal. This includes, but is not limited to procuring space, publicizing the event and negotiating with the parties which have contracted the performance. 2.) The treasurer is responsible for the maintenance of the annual budget including the negotiating of dues, performance fees, and admission fees. 3.) The artistic director shall lead all rehearsals of Two Left Feet. 4.) The Member-at-Large shall be a voice of levity for the board, shall coordinate the rotating snack bringer' and shall compensate for any other board member's negligence

Section 3

The President, Treasurer and Artistic Director shall all serve a one-Year term with a two term limit. The Member-at-Large shall serve a one-Year term with a one term limit.

ARTICLE VI: Electing, Appointing, and Removing Officers

Section 1

The elections shall take place in the first week of April for a term to begin the following fall semester. specific rules are found in the by-laws.

Section 2

As stated, the board will be elected by simple majority.

Section 3

The members of the board may be impeached and removed by the membership due to severe negligence of specific duties, or betrayal of group dynamic. Impeachment procedures are as follows. 1.) A proposal for impeachment is made to the group by any member of the group. 2.) Approval of proposal by 2/3 majority. 3.) The other members of the board will approach the aggrieved board member with a list of grievances. This approach will act as a warning. If in more than 1 month's time, the board member has not improved his/her actions, that member can be impeached by following steps 1 and 2 and another 2/3 specific impeachment vote majority. Impeachment from board membership does not mean revocation of membership in the group unless the group decides to revoke membership after board membership has been removed.

Section 4

In the event of a mid-term vacancy of an elected officer, a permanent replacement will be elected by the membership on the Sunday or Tuesday following the acceptance of his/her resignation.

ARTICLE VII: By-Laws

Section 1

By-Laws of Two Left Feet shall be established and altered by a 2/3 majority of the membership.

Section 2

By-Laws of the Board shall be established and altered by unanimous consent of the Board.

ARTICLE IX: Amendments to the Constitution

Section 1

Amendments may be proposed by any of the membership, acting alone or in groups. Amendments shall be voted up to the board by a 2/3 majority. The Board shall then pass the amendment by unanimous consent, (or the amendment shall be voted down for further modification by the membership). The amendment must then pass a secondary vote by the General membership by unanimous consent.

ARTICLE X: Ratification

Section 1

This constitution shall be established by a 2/3 majority of the membership of Two Left Feet.
