Armen Avanessians is director of FICC Strategies, Equity Strategies, Investment Banking and Financing Group Strategies, and GSAM Strategies at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He serves on the Equities/FICC Executive Committee. Mr. Avanessians joined Goldman Sachs as a foreign exchange strategist in 1985. He became a vice president in 1988 and a partner in 1994.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Avanessians was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ, where he worked in the common subsystems laboratory. He sits on the Engineering Councils of Columbia University and MIT, the MFE Steering Committee at the University of California at Berkeley and the Financial Engineering Advisory Committee at Columbia University. He and his wife Janette have two children and live in New York City.
