James Harden

James Harden is President of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, that region's second largest private employer.  Before joining CHS in 2004, he held senior executive positions for 22 years at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

At Columbia, Mr. Harden is Chairman of the Board of Overseers at the Mailman School of Public Health, and he is Chairman of the Columbia Alumni Association - the umbrella organization that connects University alumni worldwide.  Mr. Harden is past president of the Columbia Business School Alumni of New York and he has served on both the University's Alumni Trustee Nominating Committee and Columbia's Trustee Advisory Committee for Socially Responsible Investing.  He has been awarded Columbia's Alumni Medal, as well as the Dean's Award for Distinguished Service in Public Health.

At the Mailman School, Mr. Harden established the Public Health Scholars Fund, an endowment to provide graduate and doctoral students with tuition support.

Mr. Harden became a trustee of Columbia University in 2009.  He also serves on the board of the Health Care Association of New York State, and he is Vice Chairman of the Greater New York Hospital Association.

He resides in New York City with his wife and two sons.
