Esta is executive vice president and
general counsel of The Goldman
Sachs Group, Inc.
After earning her law degree at
Columbia University, Esta began her career
as an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell,
becoming partner in 1990, and subsequently
head of that firm’s Tax Group. In 1994, she
joined Goldman Sachs and was named
partner and head of its Tax Department. Esta
became general counsel in 2000. In this role,
she serves as counsel to the Management
Committee and co-heads the global legal
organization. She also co-chairs the
Compensation Policy Committee and the
Business Practices Committee, serves as chair of the Global Markets Institute and has
senior oversight responsibility for the Tax
Department.
Esta is a trustee of Columbia University
and a member of the Dean’s Council of
Columbia Law School, the board of the
Metropolitan New York Coordinating
Council on Jewish Poverty and the Anti-
Defamation League’s New York Regional
Board. She also serves on the Legal
Advisory Committee of the New York Stock
Exchange and NASDAQ.
Esta earned her BA from the University
of Minnesota in 1979 and her law degree in
1982 from Columbia Law School. |
