Dr. Clyde Y. C. Wu, an associate professor of medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, is a cardiopulmonary specialist who has been involved in medical education and improving America's health care delivery system all his life. He has been active in forging collaborations between Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons and leading medical schools in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
A strong supporter of the arts, Dr. Wu is a founding member of the Friends of Asian Arts at the Detroit Institute of Art. He also works to promote cultural exchange through the Michigan China Commission. He served on the Boards of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, the University Liggett School, the Johns Hopkins-Nanjing University Project, and is now the vice chairman of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the chairman of its educational committee.
Dr. Wu is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
