On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Trustees and the University Senate Committee on Honors and Prizes, we welcome your nominations for the following categories:
Candidates for Columbia University Honorary Degrees
Seven honorary degrees will be awarded in the following categories: The Arts; The Humanities and Social Sciences; The Natural, Applied and Pure Sciences; Public Life and Government; and Professor Emeritus. Honorees need not be graduates of Columbia University.
Candidates for the University Medal for Excellence
Columbia University awards one Medal per year to an alumnus or alumna, under 45 years of age, whose record in scholarship, public service, or professional life is outstanding.
While graduates from all divisions of the University (including Barnard and Teachers College) are eligible to receive the Medal, graduates currently employed by the university are ineligible.
Nominations for Honorary Degrees and the University Medal of Excellence, are accepted year-round. Please note that all submissions must include biographical information (for example, a biographical abstract from Who’s Who), curriculum vitae or resumé, and a proposer’s justification that does not exceed one page.
