The Senate will take action this year on a new University-wide policy on financial conflict of interest in research. An ad hoc subcommittee has been reviewing and revising a policy statement drafted by the Office of Research Compliance and Training. The latest draft of the policy, dated March 10, 2009, is available below.
The policy concerns relationships between researchers and the companies that fund their research, to avoid bias in research results.
The new policy was discussed at the Senate plenary meeting of November 20, 2008, and will be brought before the Senate at the February plenary session.
The subcommittee has held two town hall meetings for comments on the draft policy. Transcripts are available at these links:
First hearing: Friday, November 7, 4:00-5:50 p.m., CUMC
Second hearing: Friday, November 14, 12:00-2:00 p.m., Morningside
