State Aid
New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Legal residents of New York State who are enrolled in a full-time degree program of at least 12 points a term, or the equivalent, may be eligible for awards under TAP. The amount of the award depends on program, family income, financial status (dependent or independent) and number of family members enrolled in college.
Single graduate students with no dependents and under $5,666 in NYS net taxable income are eligible, as are dependent graduate students or independent graduate students who are married or have tax dependents with under $20,000 NYS net taxable income.
Award Amounts
For graduate students, awards range from $75 to $550. Graduate or professional students may receive up to four years of TAP, in addition to their undergraduate allotment. Eligible students can receive a maximum of eight years of combined undergraduate/graduate assistance.
