Applying for a Budget

   SGB BUDGET PACKET 2010-2011

A completed packet must include:

    1. Budget Packet Cover Sheet

    2. Budget Statement

    3. Budget Summary Sheet

    4. Budget Detail Sheet

    5. List of Events Held Last Year

    6. Group Constitution


Please follow the rules outlined in the Budget Guidelines section! And be aware that even if you justify every expense, follow the guidelines to the letter, and plan to hold each event/program you list, there is no guarantee that your group will receive the amount requested. SGB’s allocation to individual groups depends heavily on the funding we collect from the councils.

Appealing a Budget

To appeal your budget, you need to explain:

  1. why exactly you are appealing

  2. what you think your budget should be

  3. a filled out budget packet, using the forms above
    (only if you are appealing because you have never submitted a budget)

Co-Sponsorships

For a Co-Sponsorship with the SGB, send an email to sgb@columbia.edu with the following information:


  1. 1.A description of the event with a list of groups you're working with

  2. 2.The relationship of the event to politics, activism, religion, or humanitarianism

  3. 3.A budget for the event with a list of co-sponsorships you've received from other groups

  4. 4.The amount you are requesting from SGB
