Prevent Child Abuse America

Sigma Delta Tau's national philanthropy organization is Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA). PCAA builds awareness, educates, and works with everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of America's children. Prevention efforts are implemented nationwide at both the national and local level.

Our chapter holds two big events every year in efforts to raise money for PCAA

This fall we had an event called Let them ΣΔΤ Cake at Artopolis Espresso Cafe. Columbia students bought tickets and came to our event to enjoy an all you can eat dessert buffet full of cupcakes, cookies and all kinds of desserts provided courtesty of Artopolis. There was also a great raffle. We made over $1000 for PCAA.

Relay for Life

Each spring, we join the rest of Columbia University in raising money for the American Cancer Society. Each year, we lead Greek Life in raising money for a cure. Last year, our fundraising efforts placed us 2nd out of 68 teams - we raised $4,047! The Spring 2008 event was monopoly themed and our team's tent was located in jail! During the event we continued with our fundraising by selling popsicles. It was great to be outdoors and join together with the Columbia community to celebrate those who have survived cancer, to remember the people we've lost to cancer, and to fight back by supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society.

Columbia University Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon is the biggest philanthropy on Columbia's campus. Students dance for 28 hours and raise lots of money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Last year's marathon raised over 40k! This years marathon is Saturday, January 31- Sunday, February 1. Sigma Delta Tau is sending two teams to dance!
