Prevent Child Abuse America
Sigma Delta Tau's national philanthropy organization is Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA). PCAA builds awareness, educates, and works with everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of America's children. Prevention efforts are implemented nationwide at both the national and local level.
Our chapter holds two big events every year in efforts to raise money for PCAA. To find out more about PCAA and how you can help prevent child abuse, please visit PreventChildAbuse.org.
ΣΔT, Compete, and DefΣΔT!
Last spring, we hosted our philanthropy event, Can You Handle the HΣΔΤ, on Low Steps. Columbia students and neighborhood locale attended, bought raffle tickets, enjoyed all-you-can-eat BBQ and played "Legends of the Hidden Temple" inspired trivia to win an Iphone 4! We raised over $800 for PCAA.
ΣΔT your heart out!
This past fall, Sigma Delta Tau raised close to $2700 through our fourth annual event at Artopolis, where students paid $5 for all-you-can-eat cupcakes and cookies!

"I love SDT's Artopolis event every fall! It was such an honor to be able to plan it as the Philanthropy Chair for Fall 2010 where we raised close to $2000 for the American Heart Association. It's such a fun and delicious way to do something special for others while getting to hang out with the people that you love!" |
Relay for Life
Each spring, we join the rest of Columbia University in raising money for the American Cancer Society. Each year, we lead Greek Life in raising money for a cure. Last year, our fundraising efforts placed us 1st, raising $8,000! It was great to be outdoors and join together with the Columbia community to celebrate those who have survived cancer, to remember the people we've lost to cancer, and to fight back by supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society.
Columbia University Dance Marathon
Dance Marathon is the biggest philanthropy on Columbia's campus. Students dance for 28 hours and raise lots of money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Last year, we raised over $7,000!

"Dancing, laughing, and singing with my sisters while simultaneously supporting Pediatric AIDS research... I mean how could I not do Dance Marathon?" |
