Long Live Transformation; Transformation is Dead:
Finding a New Course for the American Military

"Military campaigns should always support the political objectives of the war and it is this internal focus that has led to some of the more recent outcomes of military actions by divorcing the goal of winning the war from its broader political objective. The challenge in Iraq in 2003 was not the defeat of its forces but the resultant post-war situation."

Citizenship and Military Service

"Ivy League graduates participate in the military at of less than one percent, well below the national average of 5 to 10% participation. In historical terms the shift is even more shocking. In the 1950s, more than 50% of the Princeton’s graduating class went into the military; fifty years later, that number is down to less than one percent at Princeton and even lower at other Ivy League schools."

New Nuclear Interactions

"Instead of drawing predictions from large-scale state-level past actions, intelligence gathering will have to take the form of detailed analyses of leaders’ psychological profiles, their wartime experiences, and internal family relations."

Robert D. Kaplan

U.S. Security in the Wake of the Midterm Elections

"Long-standing authoritarian regimes have given way to flawed democracies where the executive branch wields little power because of the rise of too many parties and interests… in the Middle East, authoritarianism is failing, but so is democracy. Politics for the US will surely get far more complex."
