CU Figure Skating Club Newsletter

11.23.2004

Hey all!

Just a brief message to let you guys know what's going on with CU
Figure Skating Club (CUFSC).

In this message:
------------------------------------
1. Ice Time Update
2.
Waivers
3.
Club Sports Dues/CU Figure Skating Membership
4.
Clothing
5.
What we'd like from you!
------------------------------------

1.  Ice Time
Unfortunately, our hopes to get ice time at Wollman Rink were crushed,
as they bizarrely wanted 2800/hr!  But, as far as ice time goes, we
are looking into Lasker and Riverbank arenas for the spring semester.
What we DO know we will be able to offer to you soon: discounted/CHEAP
ice packs for Chelsea Piers.  We are in the process of buying them
right now.  Once we get the details straightened out, we'll let you
know they're available, but for now, just know that they ARE coming,
and that you won't have to buy a 10-pack.  You could buy as few as 2
if you want.  The ice time there is regularly $19 for a 50 minute
session.  The rates for buying a session from us will vary depending
on whether you are a dues-paying member or not.

2.  Waivers
We need you guys to sign waivers for us, as part of the club sports
rule.  Even if you are not going to be a dues paying member, it would
help us greatly if you could sign a waiver.  You can either arrange
with Holly to meet or sign one at our next meeting...date to be
announced soon.

3.  Club Dues
The club dues, per sports rules, are $40.  If you officially join the
club by paying the dues, we will buy you a USFSA membership (which
includes skating magazine).  The club may be able to pay for any
testing fees or competitions you plan to compete in.
*Advanced skaters: We will also give you 2 passes to a 50 minute ice
session at Chelsea Piers.  The ice pack discounts will be available.
*Beginning skaters: We will arrange to pay for some public skating
time at Wollman, Lasker, or Chelsea during which you could be
accompanied by a seasoned skater who will give you a lesson if you
would like.
*********Please e-mail Holly (me) with what type of membership you
would like.  I will let you know more details then.

4. Clothing
We are currently working on a logo and getting team clothing.  In
order to do this better, we'd like to know which of you are interested
in Columbia clothing.  It will probably not be expensive; we are
thinking of something like a hoodie and fully unzippable pants (for
skating!) with CU Figure Skating or the logo, and perhaps your name on
it.
********Please email [email protected] and let us know if you are
interested in such clothing!

5.  What we'd like from you:
So, please let us know which membership (advanced skater or beginner
skater) you would like, if you would like CUFSC clothing, and any
other comments you have about what you'd like to see from the figure
skating club.

Thanks guys, and Happy Thanksgiving!
