John Lombardini, Ph.D.,
Princeton University, Department of Politics
John Lombardini received his Ph.D. in political theory from the Department of Politics at Princeton University in 2009. His research focuses on ancient Greek political thought, with particular interests in Greek comedy, Athenian democracy, and the dialogues of Plato. His dissertation explored the politics of laughter in the political thought of Aristophanes and Plato and its implications for our understanding of Athenian democracy and democratic culture. During his time as a fellow, John will be revising his dissertation for publication and working on an article-length manuscript on the place of laughter in Aristotle’s ethical and political thought.
John will be teaching Contemporary Civilization in the fall and a course on Greek political thought in the spring.
