City College of San Francisco

City College of San Francisco is made up of a culturally diverse student
body and faculty. As the school is seated in the midst of a great city
of liberal ideas and openness, CCSF tries to educate the masses on the
different ethnicities represented in the city. We've long held an African
American Studies department and the Latin Studies department is expanding.
An updated Asian American Studies department is growing with a new Philippine
Studies department that is gaining community and student support. Language
studies in Thai, Vietnamese and Farsi are offered in our Continuing
Education courses. New courses are being offered in Indian economics
and politics. All aspects from history, economics, women's studies,
politics, language, creative and visual arts are explored in the different
departments. In all departments, we have strong school clubs who are
active in the community, cooperating with other schools, as well as
petitioning the school instituting measures to bring these kinds of
courses to the curriculum. The clubs bring the information to the students
on a more one-on-one basis that fliers and the catalog advertising the
classes just can't do. Administration actively helps to get these courses
approved for transfer credit to the state universities and available
at more agreeable times in the schedule to encourage interest. We have
great programs and they are constantly being improved and updated.
