|
| The Columbia Squash club is a competetive intercollegiate club team. We compete against both varsity and club teams from other colleges and universities. |
|
Practices are held Monday through Friday on the Squash
courts in the Dodge
Physical Fitness Center on the Columbia campus.
|
| All club members are ranked and placed
on the ladder based on skill level. This ladder can
and will change throughout the course of the year, mainly
through challenge matches. We are working on creating
a new system for Challenge matches where challenge
match record will help determine ranking, but currently
Challenge matches are played once a week, as assigned
by the captains. A time should be arranged between the
two people and a best-of-five set match should be played. The
results of the challenge matches which affect the ladder
should be reported by the winner to Nik Trikha.
|
| Matches against other schools are played on the courts that are available (the intercollegiate standard is international size courts (i.e. wide courts), but many schools, including Columbia, only have the American size ones). The scoring standard that is used is the American standard (best 3 out of 5 games, with each game being first to 9 with a point awarded only on a player's serve). The ball that is used is the double-yellow dot. Eye protection is required during all matches. |
