Correspondence Checklist
- Have I followed any special instructions given in the job announcement?
- For example, have I included the job number?
- Have I spell checked and proofread the letter and envelope?
The Letter
- Is the date correct?
- Is the inside address (spelled) correct(ly)?
- Individual's name
- Agency's name
- Street address
- City
- Zip code
- Is the salutation correct?
- Does the name in the salutation match the name on the inside address?
- Is the agency name (spelled) correct(ly) in the body of the letter?
- Are the pages in correct order?
- Have I signed the letter?
- If I have enclosed my resume or other document(s), have I so noted on the bottom?
- Have I made myself a copy?
- Has a second party read the job announcement and then proofread the letter for me?
The Envelope
- Is the outside address (spelled) correct(ly)?
- Individual's name
- Agency's name
- Street address
- City
- Zip code
- Is the return address on the face of the envelope?
- Does the return address match my address on letter and resume?
- Do I have sufficient postage?
