Career Counseling Appointments
At this time, individual services are only available to current students and 2007 graduates.
Current students and 2007 graduates may make appointments to discuss a variety of career topics including:
Résumé and cover letter critiques
Bring in hard copies of your job search document to receive constructive feedback on marketing yourself effectively.
Interview preparation
Share your interview experiences and discuss the interview process- including the various types of interviews, effective preparation techniques, typical questions, and interview attire.
Mock interviews
(schedule an hour long appointment)
Practice the interviewing and receive formal feedback on your interview skills. Students are recommended to schedule this following an interview preparation appointment. The mock interview is typically recorded using a web cam and played back during the review process.
Networking strategies
Discuss how to network effectively and design a strategy for cultivating professional connections. Note there is a Networking vs. Not Working workshop which is also recommended.
Salary negotiation
Learn the art of salary and benefit negotiation. During an individual appointment, we can discuss your unique situation. The general techniques and material is also covered in the Seal the Deal workshop.
Job and internship search
Develop an individualized job or internship search strategy by discussing the process and your roadblocks during an appointment. It is recommended you also bring in drafts of your job search documents (résumé and cover letter).
Career options and decision-making
Discuss your career options and ways to utilize your unique skills and interests in your professional career. This traditional career counseling session will help you develop a process to clarify your professional goals.
Appointments are available for students and 2007 graduates only during usual business hours Monday through Friday, and scheduled through the online appointment scheduling system.
