Launa Kliever is currently the Associate Director of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NYC.)  Among her many duties there, she oversees the Continuing Education Program and acts as the Editor of Currents, the NASW-NYC newsletter.  She is also involved in fundraising, cultivating membership, helping expand the marketing and communications efforts of the Chapter.  Ms. Kliever is a field instructor for MSW students, and serves as Educational Coordinator for the Undoing RacismTM Project, an internship which she helped initiate to be her field placement in the second year of her Masters program at CUSSW.

Before becoming a social worker, Ms. Kliever was an elementary school teacher and also worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas, which is where she earned a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies.

For over ten years, Ms. Kliever has studied and practiced energy healing processes and techniques, working with both individual private clients and teaching small group workshops. Ms. Kliever's deep interest in self-care and healing resonates through all aspects of her work, and she is especially passionate about integrating these perspectives into practice with individuals, groups, organizations and communities, as well as into structures that support the wellness of social workers.

Ms. Kliever’s other professional interests include racial equity and anti-racist social work practice, the development of a professional social work identity, and the transformation of organizational culture.
