Patricia M. Amisson
Adjunct Lecturer

Patricia Amisson teaches courses in the History of Social Welfare Policy, Social Welfare Policy Analysis, and Grant Writing at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). Ms. Amisson earned her M.S.W. at Fordham University in 1994.

With more than twenty years experience in all aspects of health care settings, she has worked in clinical and case management positions in Psychiatry and HIV/AIDS. Presently she is a housing coordinator/case manager at The Center in Asbury Park, a community non-profit serving the HIV positive community with emergency assistance and emotional support. Ms. Amisson's research interests are in the area of interplay of formal and informal systems in community action to address social problems; HIV and AIDS as chronic illness and homelessness. In addition to client support, Ms. Amisson's professional activity is in the development and implementation of systems of programs which allow multiple points of entry for clients and provide global services. Ms. Amisson is a doctoral candidate at CUSSW.
