Alida Bouris teaches the Social Work with Individuals, Families and Groups course at CUSSW and is a doctoral candidate in Advanced Clinical Practice. Ms. Bouris received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the Columbia University School of Social Work and her Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
Her primary research interest is in the development and design of family-based interventions to prevent adolescent risk behavior, with an emphasis on preventing secondary and higher-order pregnancies among pregnant and parenting teens. In addition, her research interests include HIV-prevention, health disparity research and family influences on young adult sexual behavior. Ms. Bouris’s dissertation research is being funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is examining parental influences on young adult sexual behavior and health.
Ms. Bouris has practice experience in both community- and school-based settings. Currently, she serves as a Clinician and Researcher on a number of family-based research projects working with parents and adolescents residing in New York, NY. As part of this work, she has provided clinical and interventive services to parents and adolescents focused on helping parents to prevent unintended pregnancies, STIs and HIV in their adolescent children.
