JOSEPH P. CLEARY, Adjunct Lecturer

Joseph P. Cleary will be teaching Practice In Alcoholism & Chemical Dependence in Spring of 2001 at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). Cleary has received an MA degree in Education Administration from NYU in 1969 and a MSW from Hunter College School of Social Work in Casework/Administration in 1974.

Mr. Cleary has worked in the human service field since 1964 with institutionalized adolescents and since 1977 as President of a chemical dependency treatment program, the Renaissance Project, Inc., in Westchester County, New York. He also serves on the New York State Appeals Board for the New York State Alcohol and Substance Abuse Credential. Mr. Cleary is a member of various boards and committees in the private and public sector. In addition to being an adjunct instructor at CUSSW, he has taught at Fordham School of Social Work, Pace University Graduate Management Program, Mercy College and Ulster County Community College.

Mr. Cleary is a Technical Assistance Consultant for the Federal HUD Drug Elimination Program and is the Director of Education at the JRW Institute of Addiction Studies. He is a Planning Member of the City of Yonkers Drug Court Treatment Program.
