Ruth Rosen Cohen, Adjunct Assistant Professor

Ruth Rosen Cohen has been an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University School of Social Work, Hunter College School of Social Work, and Smith College School of Social Work; and a lecturer at New York University's Shirley Ehrenkranz School of Social Work. She is on the faculty of the Family Institute in Westchester.

Ms. Cohen is the Director of Social Work Practice at the Jewish Child Care Association. She has worked in child welfare for 17 years, 8 of which were in residential treatment. Ms. Cohen received an MSW from Boston University in 1982, and completed postgraduate training at the Family Institute of Westchester. She is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Ms. Cohen has been an invited presenter and trainer throughout New York State on many topic, including shifting an agency practice paradigm, family-centered and strengths-based practice, family systems and couples treatment. She has published articles, and is part of a consulting team reviewing services to children and families in collaboration with the Israeli government.
