Michael Connolly
Adjunct Lecturer
Michael Connolly is new to Columbia University School of Social Work and will be teaching, Spirituality and Social Work Practice. He has taught this course since 1998 at Fordham University as well as being a Faculty Advisor for students in the Substance Abuse specialization.
Fr. Michael received his Masters of Divinity in 1978 and is an ordained priest and Capuchin Franciscan Friar for over twenty five years. In this role he has been priest, teacher, preacher, counselor and chaplain in various parish communities’ hospitals and prisons.
For 13 years, Fr. Michael worked at Westchester County hospital and corrections facility as a medical, psychiatric, prison chaplain as well as Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor. In 1995, he received his Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Shortly after this he was assigned to work in a parish community faced with corporate loss needing grief and trauma counseling. At this time he became involved in community organization, individual and group counseling. In 2004 he was granted his LCSW.
At present he is the director, staff supervisor and social worker at St. Clare Senior Community in Yonkers, New York. |
