Helen Crohn teaches Foundations of Social Work Practice,
Direct Practice, and Human Sexuality at the
Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She received
her M.S.S. in 1972 from the School of Social Work and Social
Research at Bryn Mawr College. She has been teaching at CUSSW
since 1993.
Since receiving her M.S.S., Ms. Crohn has worked in community
mental health and has been affilitated with the Jewish Board
of Family and Children's Services since 1976, where currently
she is co-director of the Advanced Training Program in Child,
Family and Group Psychotherapy.
Ms. Crohn is in private practice
with a specialty in family, couples, remarriage and stepfamilies
and sex therapy. She is the co-author of numerous articles
and of the book Treating the Remarried Family, which
was published in 1982 by Brunner Mazel. Her most recent publication
was a review of Sex Education and Therapy. Ms. Crohn
is completing her third year of doctoral studies in Social
Work at Adelphi University. Her dissertation study is
on mother/daughter and stepmother/daughter relationships from a strengths perspective.
