Moira Curtain teaches the Immersion Seminar and the Seminar in Field Instruction at CUSSW. She has previously co facilitated the Multi Cultural and Awareness Day at CUSSW.
Ms. Curtain received her BA from La Trobe University (Australia), BSW from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and MSW from Columbia University in 1989. Her work experience in Australia includes Medical Social Work and employment in the Foster Care system. After graduating from CUSSW she was a Program Director at the Center for Urban Community Services for five years where she worked with formerly homeless, many of whom were substance abusing and mentally ill people with HIV/AIDS.
Ms. Curtain has been employed by CUSSW as a Field Advisor since 1995 and subsequently assisted in the development of the International Field of Practice. She is now an Associate Director for Field Education and manages the International, Immigrant and Refugee Field of Practice. Ms. Curtain has done consulting work with the UN, SOROS Foundation and the International Studies Trauma Program. She is a representative to the United Nations for the International Association of Social Work in addition to being a Co-Chair of NASW’s NYC’s Chapter for the International Affairs Committee.
