Dr. Cheryl Franks is Assistant Dean, Director of Field Education at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She has more than 25 years of professional social work experience and has been actively involved in non-profit and private sector organizational consulting. Her book, together with co-authors Carmen Ortiz Hendricks and Jeanne Betrand Finch, "Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn," is a signature text on social work field education.

Prior to her current postion, she served as the Executive Director of Diversity, Human Rights and Social Justice at CUSSW. Dr. Franks also serves on advisory committees for the Vice-Provost of Diversity, and at the Medical Center and Center for the Study of Human Rights.
