Nathan Hutto

Nathan Hutto teaches the Social Welfare Policy course at CUSSW and is a doctoral candidate with a concentration in social policy and policy analysis. He has previously taught Quantitative Methods.

Nathan's research interests include maternal and child health, social determinants of health, obesity, and child and family policy. Nathan has studied the effect of obesity on intergenerational inequality and predictors of intergenerational weight loss in young adults. He is currently working on a team at CUSSW to revise U.S. poverty thresholds based on consumer expenditures.

Nathan received his Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. He has previously worked for a number of domestic and international non-profits, Boston Public Schools, and various political campaigns.
