Iris Jackson-Moya , Adjunct Lecturer

Dr. Jackson-Moya received a Ph.D. in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in 2000 and an M.S. in 1982 from CUSSW. Her doctoral dissertation title was " Co-occurrence of Psychiatric Syndromes and Substance Use Disorders Among Puerto Rican Adolescents". She has research and clinical experience in mental health, psychiatric epidemiology and substance abuse treatment and prevention. Since 1998, she has been a consultant as a grant application reviewer for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in Washington, developing knowledge on the effectiveness of interventions with at risk populations. Dr. Jackson-Moya was a Research Fellow in the Council on Social Work Education, and the recipient of the Manhattan Borough Presidentıs Award for excellence in Social Work in 1989. She taught a course at CUSSW in social work practice with children, and has taught courses at the School of Medicine, Central Caribbean University of Puerto Rico in family therapy and group therapy and substance abusive behavior.
