Livingston
Adjunct Lecturer
Ms. Livingston has taught an Integration
Seminar for Reduced Residency to students for two years
and the Practice 4 mini course, Clinical Use of Self in
Clinical Practice at CUSSW. She received her MSW from
Simmons College in Boston and has an MA from Teachers College
in NYC.
She did clinical work in child psychiatry and
in pediatric neurology before going to academia. The majority
of her career has been in field work education at Columbia
and Rutgers School of Social Work. She has taught supervision
to many field instructors (using a curriculum she coauthored)
, established and monitored a wide range of field placements
and worked with students in the planning of their field experiences
including resolution of many problems.
For many years Ms. Livingston has volunteered
at Gay Men's Health Crisis leading support groups for gay
men and women with HIV/AIDS, supervising staff, and conducting
bereavement and sexual diversity workshops in community agencies
and schools. Now as a member of their Board of Directors she
participates in program planning, policy setting, and fund
raising. She has also been active in political action groups
and campaigns for local legislators.
