Ms. Susan Matorin teaches Social Work Practice with Families at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She received her undergraduate degree at Vassar and a M.S. from CUSSW in 1966.

She has focused her career on mental health services and student training, first at New York State Psychiatric Institute in Community Psychiatry, then at Presbyterian hospital and since 1991 at Payne Whitney Clinic of the Weill College of Medicine at Cornell. She currently manages an Intensive Outpatient Program from the Department of Psychiatry. Her most recent publication in Humane Managed Care (NASW press 1998) outlines the challenge to service training and values in the current cost driven climate.

Ms. Matorin serves on the school’s Advisory Council, edits the Alumni Newsletter and received a Columbia Alumni Medal and the Centennial Award for Leadership in Social Work Leaders in Health Care, Metropolitan chapters. Recently she received the Hyman J. Weiner Award from the National Society for Social Work Leaders in Health Care.
