Monica Matthieu
Adjunct Lecturer

Ms. Monica Matthieu teaches Foundations of Social Work Practice at Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She recieved her MSW from Tulane University in 1994, and her BSW from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Ms. Matthieu transitioned from her MSW internship at the Department of Veterans Affiars, Readjustment Counseling Serives' Veterans Resource Center (Vet Center)in New Orleans to become the clinical coordinator/clinical social worker at an outpatinet mental health clinic. Since moving to New York three years ago, Ms. Matthieu has worked for a national suicide prevention and early identification of mental illness program within the CU's Division of Child and Adolscent Psychiatry called the Columbia Univeristy TeenScreen Program. Currently, she is the Research Coordinator for TeenScreen. Her publications include Primary Prevention with Diverse Populations coautored with CUSSW's Professor Steven Schinke. She is currently a PhD candidate at CUSSW in the direct practice sequence.
