Ofira Schwartz-Soicher is a doctoral candidate at the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW) with a concentration in social policy and policy analysis.  Her current interest lies in disentangling neighborhood effects on the childhood obesity epidemic which is within the area of her PhD dissertation. Her broad research interests include maternal and child health, urban poverty, and health disparities among low-income populations. She currently works with the Built Environment and Health Group.

Prior to joining Columbia, Ms. Schwartz-Soicher was involved with a number of research projects at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She managed data operations for an NIH-funded project to analyze the effect of poor child health on family resources as well as for the "Fragile Families and Child Health" project.  Prior to that she was a statistical programmer at Princeton University for the Fragile Families and Child Health Study. Ms.  Schwartz-Soicher holds an MBA and a B.Sc. in nutrition.
