Dava Weinstein teaches Social Work Practice with Families at Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She teaches a similar course at the Hunter School of Social Work. She received an MSW from Fordham University School of Social Work in 1971.

Ms. Weinstein is a consultant to social service agencies and has a private practice. Areas of specialty include family therapy, addictions, LGBT issues and she has published journal articles on these topics. She co-authored the Ackerman Institute training video Different Kinds of Love.
