Advanced AGPP SIFI
Anna Hendrick, LCSW, Adjuct Senior Lecturer
Fridays, 10/30, 11/6 and 11/13
9:00am-1:00pm,
Room 705
This is a wonderful opportunity to become grounded in both the conceptual framework and technical skills needed to supervise AGP&P students. You will have a more extensive opportunity to learn needs assessment, grant writing and program development that emerge from client and community needs. Those of us in the field education department strongly encourage you to attend this Advanced SIFI if you were not trained specifically in working with AGP&P students.
Skills & Strategies
for Facilitating Challenging Dialogues in Field Education
Cheryl Franks,
PhD & Ovita Williams,
LCSW-R
Thursdays, 11/12, 11/19 and 12/3
12:30pm-4:30pm, Room 402
You've been there before. You’re in a supervisory session, staff meeting or training session and someone mentions race, or perhaps sexual orientation and the conversation becomes awkward and tense. Patricia Williams, Columbia University Law professor, calls this moment the piece of furniture in the middle of the room that we ignore, walk around, and pretend doesn’t exist.
This workshop will be a didactic and experiential seminar; it will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully facilitate difficult conversations around race, class and diversity. Utilizing theories of group work, conflict resolution, and cultural competence, participants will leave with increased comfort and ease facilitating challenging dialogues in a host of organizational settings that serve as field sites for students.
All workshops will be held at
Columbia University School of Social Work, 1255 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10027. To register for any of these
seminars above, please complete this form.
