Federal Grad Plus

The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan is a credit-based supplemental loan that assists students in meeting the cost of attendance.  Unlike a private education loan, the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan is borrowed through the US Department of Education. PLEASE NOTE: The terms and conditions of federal student loans or assistance may be more favorable or beneificial than the terms and conditions of private education loans.

Private Loans

Generally eligibility requirements for a private loan include that you: must be a graduate or professional student or pursuing postbaccalaureate training or a postbaccalaureate certificate at Columbia University registered at least part-time; must have a valid U.S. Social Security number; must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident; complete a loan application with your lender of choice; have a U.S. credit record with no bankruptcies, not be in default on any education loan or owe a refund on an education grant, and meet the applicable credit eligibility requirements.
International students may be eligible for a private loan with a creditworthy U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
