Federal Work Study Program
Funded in part by the federal government, this program compensates
students for work done in public and nonprofit agencies.
At the Columbia School of Social Work, this program works
uniquely in that students are compensated for service at
their field placement. Work study award ranges from $3,000-$4,400, based on funding availability. Payments are issued to students on a bi-weekly basis.
In order to qualify, students must
be enrolled for at least 10 credits, including fieldwork,
and demonstrate financial need and eligibility according to
federal guidelines. The student's fieldwork agency must also
be a nonprofit organization offering no financial compensation
outside of the Federal Work Study Program. Due to federal
budget restrictions, awards are also based on the availability
of funding. Please be advised that payments are only made for signed time sheets that are submitted by the posted due date.
NOTE: Due to funding limitations, the School is not able to award work study to all eligible students. Also, if a student earns all of their work study allotment prior to field education ending, they are still expected to complete the remaining and necessary hours of field education as part of their program and degree requirements.
